If you have Windows XP and Visa disks and Windows Vista installed, you might overide XP?
I want XP back on my computer. The new team I have is Vista on it. I have a Microsoft Windows XP Professional w/SP2 installation disk and if I put in, will travel just over the view or I have to go through a complicated process? Thanks
Possibly. If you have the "full" version of Windows XP Professional w/SP2, you can boot from it and override Fully computer disk drive with new partitions and perform a clean installation. You, of course, probably are forced to boot from the installation CD Windows XP Professional SP2, because it probably would not be allowed (for Windows Vista) to start installing a previous version of Windows from Windows Vista. You have to make very sure you have XP compatible drivers for all hardware on your laptop before starting the installation process of Windows XP Professional SP2 on your laptop. Therefore, you may have to go to the website of the manufacturer of the laptop and download the appropriate hardware drivers for Windows XP for your computer hardware. Then you have to save drivers to removable media of some kind that may be available for use when you have finished installing Windows XP Professional SP2. In addition, you may want to check to make sure that the recovery partition on your laptop has burned to a CD or DVD (depending on applicable) before doing anything. If you have a full recovery CD or DVD already (supplied by the manufacturer of the laptop), you can be sure. But, I recommend read the documentation for your computer to see if the portable hard disk has a "hidden" partition that contains "restore" data. And one last thing (I promise). Before getting rid of Vista, be sure to go online to download the security software you may want to use on your computer laptop (once you have XP installed and before connecting to the internet). Some include AVG antivirus software (or similar), SpywareBlaster (or similar), Spybot Search & Destroy, CCleaner, ZoneAlarm firewall (or similar). You want to store the installers for all these programs on removable media so that you can have them without having to venture Internet "unprotected" after installing XP.
