The architect is responsible to comply with the owner-architect agreement and review/approve/take necessary action on the submittals provided by the contractor.
Are Shop Drawings Really Needed?
The drawings and specifications prepared by the contractor should furnish complete details regarding the design concept, construction components and their relationship with each other. Architects and engineers must thoroughly review shop drawings in order to ensure that the contractor has clearly interpreted the architectural and engineering design concepts as per the contract document. It also helps them to correct any mistakes before they are sent for the fabrication or to the construction site.
Reviewing and correcting shop drawings prior to construction is more economical option than to remove and replace fallacious construction.
